Being an informed citizen

Relevant to our recent discussion, here's a blog entry (link below) by Mickey Kaus that discusses a recent political scandal and ends up arguing that "you can no longer be a well-informed citizen if you just read the Times and Post print editions. You have to go online." Do you agree?

The internet provides information as it happens. You don't have to wait for the paper to be printed to read the next day. Also, the internet can get away with things that a traditional newspaper cannot. With all the blogs and additional information provided on the internet you can get a whole new perspective on a news story than you would simply reading it from a newspaper.

I think that this premise is according to someones oppinion. What exactly does it take for someone to be an informed citizen? With so much information floating around out there it is impossible to take it all in and only take the truth. So, depending on your view point i think that we are all either an informed citizen or none of us are.
